New Schedule

Hey world, it is Aniyah! In this blog I will discuss the new film plan. We did not know if we were filming separately or not. Today we will talking about the plan if we are able to get together. First we will be taking safety precautions. Everyone will wear masks as we film. The only exception will be for those in front of the camera. Secondly we are planning on filming on either January 3rd or 10th. This depends on the cast availibility. We will be filming from the morning all the way into the evening. So, it will probably be from 9 in the morning to 6 at night. We will not be filming the. scenes in order. We go with the time of day. The first shot will be the one where the girls are coming down the stairs and are going to work. Then we will film the scene when they are getting into the car. We will change locations to outside and film the part where the girl falls and goes to the hospital. We will film the rest of the scenes as it starts to get dim outside. When it gets dark outside we will film the first scenes of that evening. We will finish shooting the rest of the scenes in the nighttime. Thanks for reading blog you later!

Plan B

Hey world, it’s Aniyah! Last blog, I spoke about how my partner and I had some troubles with filming. Previously we were exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Because we care about the safety and health of others, we stayed isolated for the required two weeks. We were also tested just to be cautious. We took all the necessary precautions. In result of those complications, we have come with a plan B. Stephanie and I spoke over the phone and put a lot of thought into this. There are many aspects to this backup plan. In case of any future issues, we have learned many editing techniques from our class and professional outside sources. Currently we are very familiar with iMovie and other editing applications. If possible, we plan to film some scenes at our own homes. This is to prevent as less contact as possible. Certain scenes that only require shots of the background we can do by ourselves and put it in the film. Such as pan shots and establishing shots. Scenes that may require only one person can be shot individually. Once it is safe for us to go outside, we will schedule another day to get together and film. Of course we will be safe by wearing our masks and social distancing  as much as possible. Despite issues, Stephanie and I are very persistent and dedicated to completing this film with our best efforts. Thanks for reading, blog you later!

Props

Hey world, it is Aniyah! In this blog I will be discussing the props that we will be using. We have added more props recently. Even though we could not film on our scheduled day. We were able to find ways to make our production better. I will be discussing all the props and the items that will be utilized. For the first scene we will be in the dining room. There will be one table and eight chairs. We will be sitting in two of the chairs across from each other. Both of us will have a laptop, notebooks, and pencils. The second scene will not have many different props. The next scene will be the morning when they are getting ready for work. They will come down the stairs at different times. They will both have bags and shoes. Then they will walk out the door and we will add the props. The added props will be the car and the keys. Then they will get into the lab and go to the hospital. The props there will be the hospital bed and a heart monitor. And many other hospital items. Thanks for reading blog you later!

First day of filming: FAIL!

Hey world, it is Aniyah! Today was an actual fail. Today was very stressful. On this day, we were supposed to start filming our movie. That went downhill. We had a specific schedule to follow that was never carried out. We planned the schedule for two weeks in advanced but plans were changed because of the corona virus. Stephanie, some of the cast members and I were exposed to the virus. We did not test yet, but we still took  precautions and stayed home for at least two weeks. Although, took many measures needed to prevent this, we still got exposed. Currently, while we stay in isolation we are planning out a new schedule. Hopefully next time everything will go as planned. We have gone through and properly given our characters some defined details. For example, we planned out what our characters would wear. We practiced how they would sound and how their facial expressions and their emotions would look like. We may be behind schedule but we are doing our best to get caught up. It is heartbreaking we did not get to film today but we did what was best. It is better to be safe than to be sorry. But I will be really happy when we do start filming. Thanks for reading blog you later.

Setting

Hey world, it's Aniyah! Previously, I discussed the costumes of the film. This blog I will be discussing the setting part of CLAMPS. I will be going through the scenes and telling you where it will be. Firstly, everything will be filmed at one house which will be easier but still bring some complications. I say it is easy because we will not have to bring the whole cast to different locations and it woke take up as much time. But, with it will all be filmed in a different room. None of the scenes will cross paths or be filmed in the same area. For the first scene it will be filmed in the dining room and it will be the two characters facing each other parallel to the camera fading into a black screen. The next scene will be filmed perpendicular to the right of the staircase and the camera will parallel to the door. The girls will come down the stairs and the camera will back up as they come forward. For the next scene it will be shot upstairs in an all white room with one desk in the center over a wall and one chair on one side and another chair on the other side for the two girls. In that same room there will two coatracks with two lab coats and two pair of goggles. In the next scene we will be in the garage with one pull outbed as a gurney in a hospital. There will be a white sheet to make it look like a white room. The next scene will be filmed outside of the garage with the camera pulling back as FBI agent rushes the girls into a car. The camera will be on the dashboard of the car and the FBI agent will be talked to the girls.  Finally the girls will be outside of the house saying goodbye. Costumes

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In this blog we will discuss CLAMPS. That stands for costumes, lighting, actors, makeup, props, and setting. Although we will be focusing a little more on costumes today. Costumes are so fun because you get to look like anyone you want to look like. In this case we just want to be our characters in our film. We want to express our characters personality through the clothes. Both of the main characters style is more professional and luxurious. They are used to wearing those type of those clothes because of their jobs. Their careers are very high paying, so they are used to the finer things in life. The characters clothes are an important factor in allowing the audience into seeing who they really are. It is like the audience will get to see the film from a different set of eyes. For the first scene they will be wearing casual clothes because they are in the comfort of their home. They will be wearing their pajamas in their natural state. In the next scene they will be dressed in their professional business clothing. They dress like this for when they go to work. In other scenes they will be dressed in lab clothing. Then their clothing will be messed up because of the conflict in the later scenes. Their clothing will look messed up and rugged. Thanks for reading, blog you later!

Social Media

Hey world, it is Aniyah! We started our social media accounts. We needed our cover photo before we started our social media accounts. Instead of finding a cover photo we got together and made a cover photo while we were on the phone. We decided that it would be best for us to make a cover photo instead getting one on the internet. We wanted to increase the originality. Once we made our cover photo, we sent it to our teachers for another opinion and they loved it. We got our cover photo done and put our title on it to make our social media pages. First we began our Instagram page. It was easy because we already knew how to use the app. Next was Twitter, which was a little bit more difficult to use. Stephanie and I are unfamiliar with this app, so we had to learn as we go. Next we set up our youtube. We have some experience with youtube, but there are a lot of aspects to youtube, so it took some time. Lastly, we set up our Facebook page. We have never used Facebook before, so most things were unfamiliar with most things.  Despite the circumstances we were still able to work ourselves around it. Once we created all our social media pages we uploaded our cover photo. Many of our peers followed us and we loved all their support. Thanks for reading blog you later!

The Website

Hey world, it is Aniyah! Recently, we started our website for our film. It was a pretty fun experience. It felt good to do and learn something new. It did take a lot of time and work. We had to learn different things as we were setting it up. There were many designs and templates to choose from, but we chose ones that we felt fit the aesthetic of the film. Creating the website was way easier said than done. Also, I struggled with the our social media links. We decided to multi task by creating the social media pages while creating the website. I struggled with getting the social media links to work, but i did research and go it to work. Once I got the links to work, I continued decorating the site. I made the background dark to appeal tp the aesthetic of the film. The home page is our personally designed cover of the film. The website contains all the information required. Also, I included some nice transitions for the audience. There are still certain things that need to be filled out. But we will fill those blanks going forward. I am very excited for this experience. Thanks for reading blog you later!

Figuring Out More Backgrounds for Certain Scenes

Hello world, it’s Aniyah! Previously, we took the time to go over what we needed to film. Here’s a back story of what we were trying to film. “One shows the lake outside of Stephanie’s house. Then it moves quickly to inside the house. The second one was in the morning with an upshot of the sky while the birds were flying. Then, the camera swipes down to the door and rushes through the door and inside the house, the the dining area. The third one is sort of the same scene, but it is in the evening. There is a part where the scene begins and it is in the house during nighttime and it zooms into the door and inside the house. This scene is when the girls are having a discussion at home in the beginning of the film. Furthermore, the next scene in the morning includes a part that is during the morning.” To get all those shots of the sky took a really long time. The one that took the most time was the shot where we had to wait for the birds to fly by and didn’t even happen. But for that scene, I think we can use some editing techniques to fix that issue. After that filming, we had to film again at night. This was the harder part. Since it was nighttime there was no natural light. We had to decided we wanted to use the street lights or use a flashlight. The flashlight wasn’t what we needed, so we went for the streetlight. Thanks for read! Blog you later!

Figuring Out the Outside Scenes

Hello world, it’s Aniyah! Last night and this morning we took the time to FaceTime and figure out exactly where and what we wanted to film for the outside parts. There was a bit of a disagreement, but we worked it out civically. We had a disagreement about where we wanted to film the outside scenes. For example, we three locations and three types of outside shots. One shows the lake outside of Stephanie’s house. Furthermore, the next scene in the morning includes a part that is during the morning. This was all the choices for the intros of the scenes and we could not pick the same ones. This was due to the fact that so many of them were really good for the scene. The end of the situation was the fact that we film all the scenes and wait until we have filmed the rest of the clips to see which one is the best. Also, we will be filming to see if the ideas translate into good shots. That means that filming the rest of the movie will need to happen as soon as possible. Most likely, we will be filing the rest of our five minute film in 2-3 weeks. Thanks for reading! Blog you later!

The Start of Filming

Hello world, it’ s Aniyah! This is the official start of getting the final project done. Previously, we went through the steps of finding film topics, planning, story boarding, and finalizing the script. In this blog, I will discuss getting ready for the filming process. Currently, we are in the process of collecting props and choosing backgrounds for our film. By backgrounds, I mean places in our home that could be useful for the film. The lighting is very important for certain scenes that are supposed to be filmed at night. The only problem is Stephanie are not sure if we can film together during the evening, but we will try to figure something out. Stephanie and I tend to have strict parents, so we are not sure if a sleepover would be in the picture. Instead, we are looking for places with a darker setting. For example, we have the first scene of the movie later in the afternoon, during the sunset. When we put our heads together to work on the angles that will help and what we can do for the windows. We are planning on covering the windows with blankets and using inside lighting to make it look like nighttime. This will make it appear like nighttime and we will continue that for the rest of the scenes in a dark setting. Our back up plan is to pre- film in the morning and night scenes before actually film. COVID- 19 has made it extra difficult to meet up physically and film, but we are working with our circumstances. We have used technology such as texting, and calling to communicate our ideas to each other. We were trying to avoid rushing the movie. Thanks for reading! Blog you later!

Storyboard for short film

Hello world, it's Aniyah. We are getting farther in the process of completing the final project. Finally, we have reached the storyboard process. I was very excited for this. I was excited because I love our plot for the project. I am excited to complete the story. Stephanie took the lead in writing and drawing the storyboard. While I helped in figuring out which shots and camera movements were appropriate for which scene. She and I figured out all the details of the story. This process was slightly different because of social distancing. Although it was difficult, we were still able to collaborate with each, thanks to new technology. We texted and talked on the phone in order to work together. Stephanie and I were very compatible with getting the story lined up and planning everything out. I am not surprised with our compatibility because we have worked together on other assignments. From those assignment we have had outstanding outcomes. This storyboard includes a a variety of details regarding the story. The details include the shots, angles, movements. Also, it includes the dialogue and the actions carried out in the story. You will find there are many twists and turns in the story. The camera movements definitely play a part in certain suspenseful factors in the project. Thanks for reading blog you later!

Short Film vs. Full Length Flim

Hey world, it's Aniyah! I have successfully watched both the short and long version of "9". The shorter version had a smaller monster than the longer one. The longer one consisted of more characters. The short one had no dialogue, but the longer one did. I liked that because it made it more interesting and interactive. The longer version expanded the story and provided more depth. The longer one allowed the audience to learned more about the characters and the setting. In shorter version, only one character passed, but in the longer one multiple characters passed away. In the longer version, the monster was a lot bigger and more powerful. It was a lot more complex to defeat the monster. There was more unity in the longer version because in the shorter one, number 5 had to defeat the monster on his one. One thing both versions share is that there was a very heart-warming happy ending. I enjoyed the longer one more. I think this because it had a lot more action, adventure and drama. It was very emotional. The shorted one did not give off that same emotion. The longer one allowed me to be more drawn to the characters. The connection the longer version created made me feel as if I was living in the film. It was so creative.. Thanks for reading, blog you later!

Research- 9 the feature film

Hey world, it's Aniyah! I will be sharing with you my impressions of the feature film. The film was amazing. It was very adventurous and there were so many surprises. The animation was so advanced and creative. There were many acts of heroism performed by many characters. It was also very sad and depressing. I think it was sad because a lot of characters passed away. Especially characters that had a good personality. Some of them sort of grew on me. You got to learn a lot about the characters and their journey. The plot was very interesting and full of mystery. I like how the film showed it's better to do things with a group, instead of being alone. Because in the beginning some of them were divided, but then they were united. In my opinion, that is a very important message. Also, I like the flashbacks and the background story. Also, the characters were fearful in beginning, but they faced their fears to do what's right. I also think that is very important. I felt it gave the audience more of an understanding of what was going on. The flashbacks also added to the drama. Thanks for reading, blog you later!

Research- 9 the short

Hey world, It's Aniyah! In this blog, I will be sharing an amazing short film I watched! In the beginning, I was confused because the characters do not talk. But, I realized I have to pat attention to the surroundings and their actions in order to understand. It takes place in a dark, dusty, and empty area filled with rusty old metal objects. There are these two littles bots with with numbers on their back. The film appeared to be animated. They had this little object that would flash green lights, I inferred that it must have been something important. The two bots seemed helpless as they ran away from a monster attacking them. The monster took one of the bots named "5" which seemed to be the other bot's friend. The last bot seemed to be scared and alone after his friend was taken away from him. But, once the monster came again the last bot came off as courageous and clever. He did not seem scared anymore. Later, outsmarted the monster and then defeated him. At the end, the green object opened and all the other bots souls were released. I thought that scene at the end was a nice twist. The last bot looked happy at the end. I really like this short film, it was very creative and out of the box. I especially like the little happy ending. Thanks for reading, blog you later!

Genre Choice for Film

Hey world, it's Aniyah! After completing all my research for my final film, I came down to choosing one genre. The genre I chose is drama. I choose this genre because I feel this represents the plot of my project the most. From the shots to the mis-en-scene. My plot does include some of the elements of the other genres. But, I felt that drama was the most eligible. Drama has a lot of twists and turns. Drama also has a lot of suspense. Which is what I want my film to include. Also, the shots and angles that are commonly used in drama are shots that I could most definitely work with. The mis-en-scene leaves a lot of room for my creativity. Also, seeing many other drama films inspired me to choose this genre. Drama tends to be one of my favorite film genres. I do not believe I should tweak my pitch. I believe this because my pitch matches perfectly with the elements of drama. The part that makes drama interesting is that there is not always a happy ending. Which goes good with my plot for the film. Thank you for reading. Blog you later!

Genre Research- Thriller

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In this blog I will be researching thriller.

  • Common CAMS- common camera angles, shots, and angles are tracking/panning shots, close up shots, high angle, hand held shots, and tilt.
  • Common sound- Voiceover, Dialogue,  and Suspenseful music.
  • Common mis-en-scene- For costumes the characters usually wear dark colored clothing. Low key lighting is commonly used in thriller films. There is usually a bad guy and good guy. The characters usually wear makeup natural to the skin. Weapons such as knives are very common in thriller films. Sometimes, they also use fake blood. The setting varies depending on the film, but it is usually in a loud setting.
  • Common editing techniques- Jump cuts, shot reverse shot, action match, are some techniques used in thriller films.
  • Example films- The Invisible Man, Escape Room, and Us.
  • What elements I like- I like the sounds and camera angles.
  • What elements do not appeal to me: The lighting.

There are many hand and set props to set the dramatic scene. The setting depends on the film. It can vary from earth to outer space or from a small town to a big city.
  • Common editing techniques- There are many reaction shots in drama films. They also use long-winded shots.

Genres I Would Like To Research

Hey world, it's Aniyah. After coming up with my pith idea for my film, I chose three genres this may fall under. I chose action, drama, and thriller. These are going to be the genres that I will research. I am choosing to research action because this is the genre that my partner and I wanted to do this year. I feel there are a lot of creative things you can do and learn with action. From the action movies there tends to be many special effects. So, I am hoping action will help me learn new editing techniques. Also, I chose drama because in many drama movies there's a huge conflict with a mind-blowing twist. The film will definitely contain that element. Additionally, numerous drama films do not have the happiest ending, which is what makes them so interesting. In the future I intend to not have a happy ending with my film. Last but no least, I chose thriller because I intend for my film to have a lot of suspense. Thriller movies includes a lot of shocking moments. I want my plot to leave the audience at the edge of their seats. I want my audience to feel many emotions from my film. I want the conflict of my story to be very dramatic and shocking. So, I am very excited to be researching these genres. Thanks for reading. Blog you later!

The Pitch

Hey world, it's Aniyah! Today is the official start of the project. Stephanie and I have been coming up with ideas for a couple days. We have combined our ideas and we came to a conclusion that the main genre of our short film is going to be a drama. Also, we concluded that I will present to you in this blog. We did some research on the drama, to know what elements to include. After that we let our creativity flow. Our pitch is:

  • A nosy reporter discovers the secret to immortality, but a battle occurs when the government wants to keep it a secret.

The New Group!

Hey world, it's Aniyah. Today I am going to inform on the partner I am going to be working with from now on. Technically this partnership is not "new" because we have worked together before. The person I am going to working with is Stephanie. I have worked with her on past projects many times before. We worked with each other really well. We helped build each other on our journeys together. I chose her as my partner because we work done while having fun. We both have creative ideas that can be put well together. We already have a good idea of what our final project is going to be about. We just need to organize ideas, combine them, and perfect them. Also, she is real good at editing, so it will be easy to work with her on that. We both work really hard. It is easy to communicate with whenever I need. So, communication will not be a problem with this project. Also, we were in the same class last year and we learned the same things. With Stephanie as my partner I believe things will run smoothly. I can't wait until we get to start these projects. I am prepared to learn and have fun. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Welcome Back!!!

Welcome back world, it is Aniyah! I would like to welcome you with a big virtual hug. It has been a really long time since I have made a blog. I wanted to inform you all that my blogging journey has started once again. This is going to be another wild journey of my filming path. I will not not be able to do as may thins as I used to do because of a current virus that is being spread globally. Although, I am limited to do certain things, I will still make the best out of this journey. This series is going to include a lot more surprises on the way. I will be working on many new things that I did not do last year. Since I have more experience now. I will be familiar with a few of these things.

Audience and Institution Essay

Assess the importance of marketing in the media area you have studied.

Marketing is an important aspect in the film industry. A film needs to be marketed and advertised to gain potential views. The more effective the marketing strategy, the more likely the audience will increase.

For example, Fast and Furious 7 used cross promotion to promote the movie. Radio stations across America created contests for tickets to view the premiere of the movie. This strengthened the numbers of their viewers tremendously. This movie became the best movie of the franchise and it was widely recognized for its emotional core. Additionally, Beauty and the Beast used cross promotion by selling their merchandise in many stores and they promoted the special upcoming release on The Bachelor. This persuaded audiences to view the emotional connection in this cartoon transformed into live action. Many people reviewed it as “one of the best disney princess movies”. It has been proven that in less than a week after its release the live-action version received more money than the original.

Furthermore, Kendrick Lamar, producer and rapper, created a soundtrack for the marvel movie, Black Panther. They used this celebrity’s fan base to spread the word about this new blockbuster movie. Also, they used an NBA game to debut the trailer. Lamar’s song became second in the top ten hit chart and this gained a huge amount of attention for Black Panther. As well as that, Guardians of the Galaxy uses Synergy with the streaming app, Disney+. This is one of the biggest streaming apps in 2020. By doing this they gained a great audience for this movie and many stated that this movie was “better than Black Panther”. This advancement led to a sequel of Guardians of the Galaxy. This movie became known as insanely fun and emotionally touching.

In conclusion, film promotion and marketing is a strategic and significant way to get the word out about an upcoming film. Using trailers, big events, and contests are some ways to complete a successful promotion. This part of the distribution process can improve brand awareness and increase the number of money the movie earns. As Beth Comstock says, “You can’t sell anything, if you can’t tell anything”

Critical Creative Reflective Questions: Interview Edition!!

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In this blog I am going to reflect on the process of the project and the making of the project. This time is going to different and interesting. This CCR is going to be in the version of an interview. I was inspired by Vouge's 73 question interviews. The way they do their interviews is they go to the celebrity's house and they walk around the house as the interviewer asks the questions. I did my best imitation of that in this interview.

The Final Task: Movie

Hey world, it's Aniyah! I have come to inform you about my movie. Fortunately, we were able to complete filming our movie before quarantine and the corona pandemic. I came a long way since the first task, the commercial. I have made a lot progress on my production skills and I have developed in many ways. Hopefully, this project resembles the progress I have made. Let me provide you with a summary of this movie. This project is about a young, rebellious, and mean girl who treats everyone with disrespect, including her family. She's rude to caring mother, does not appreciate her maid, and she even treats strangers and her friends with disrespect. Eventually, she gets what she deserves from karma.

What I Learned From Commercial

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In my previous blog I mentioned there is a current outbreak of the COVID-19 virus and it is required we stay home until further notice. This has made it difficult to complete the project for many students, but we are resilient. Although this school year has been cut short, I have learned a lot along the way. In my blog I am going to explain how much I learned from the first task: the Commercial. The commercial project introduced me to basic things about filming. It gave me more insight into the different aspects of a digital camera and a tripod. It taught the digital camera can do more than just record. It can zoom in, zoom out, and give you clearer angles when filming. Before this project I was unsure what the purpose was of tripod.

After the project I learned the tripod can be used for many things. It can use to make your shots and you can use for different camera shots or movements. You can use it for pan shots, tracking shots, wide shots and more. I learned how to dump your footage from the SD card into the computer to start editing. I learned the basic things you need to know about editing. I learned common shots, movements and editing techniques such as close up shots, pan/wide shots, and tracking shots. I learned in the filming business you should get used to working with others because you can't do everything by yourself. Overall, I learned the basics of a camera, a tripod, and filming in general. This project introduced me to what goes on behind the scenes. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Editing: The First Phase In Re-editing

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In my previous blogs I explained how there's a current outbreak of a newly discovered virus. I also explained the precautions they are taking because of this. Because we are currently limited to go places it has been difficult for my group and I to do the re-shoots. It was already a difficulty before these events happened because of how far away we live from each other. Now it's an even bigger issue. We have just decided to communicate through text and call to get some work done. During the break we have just focused on editing. Instead of Pinnacle Studios we continue to use iMovie through a MacBook. We are more familiar with iMovie which is why we continue to use it.

First, we completed the first part of editing which dumping all the footage from the SD card into the computer. Then, we looked through all the shots we took and looked to see which shots would be best to use for the film. We cut all the shots we did not use and put the shots we did use in order. Than we started on the transitions and editing techniques. We put in all the fade outs, fade ins, and more into the film. Once we completed that we looked through the whole film again to make sure there was no choppiness in between scenes. We enjoyed trying different techniques because we believe it made it more interesting and kept the audience engaged. We also made sure each shot, movement, and techniques was in order so that it would match with the scenes. We could only get so much done in so little time. In future blogs I will continue to inform you on my journey. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Limited Ability to Film

Hey world, it's Aniyah! Within these past few months there has been an outbreak of a newly discovered virus known as the Corona virus aka COVID-19. Due to this unexpected outbreak precautions have been made. Schools have been closed in order to prevent the spread of the virus among students. Stores, malls, beaches and more have either shut down or closed early to limit how much people go out. Even movie productions have been halted. For example, Disney was previously working on the sequel to the movie Avatar. But it has been delayed because of the virus. The issues we are currently facing are very real and as time progresses these issues continue to grow. The governor highly recommends that people should stay home as much as possible.

These precautions that have been made has hindered the plans that were laid out for schools. But, new plans have been made so that no drastic results comes to pass. These events have caused my group and I limited ability to film. The next phase after the peer review was to get a start in re-shooting and re-editing. We have not been able to film yet because of the current circumstances. But we have used this extra time to edit. Even though we did not get much critique in our review, we still made a few changes. Over spring break we have FaceTimed and brainstormed different ideas on how to improve our film. My group and I believe we have a good story but we also want to execute the film as great as possible. This would really put an emphasis on the message we are trying to across in the film. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Hoping For The Best In Peer Review

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In the previous blog I discussed the process of reviewing my peers film. As I reviewed someone else's film, my film was also being reviewed. In our review there weren't many complaints or bad comments about the film. We made sure that we included all the required shots, movements, and angles, so I wasn't expecting any bad comments on that part. My main concern was that person who watched our film would not catch on to what the film is about, but I was wrong. He caught on very quickly, matter of fact, he was spot on with the movie was about. I didn't completely think he wouldn't catch on, but I wasn't sure because technically my perspective would be biased. Although, I would liked if multiple people watched and reviewed the film, I still appreciated his point of view. He also caught onto the humor we added in the film.

He wrote in his review that the humor part was is favorite thing about the film. He also commented that the film overall was interesting, which was what we were going for. He didn't give any suggestions on what we can do to make it better, but as a group we are probably going to fix a few things in editing. In the review, he stated there wasn't anything wrong with the sound or the lighting. We did our best to make sure the lighting was very accurate and that lighting went with the mood of the different scenes. Additionally, we made sure the sound was clear and that there wasn't any unnecessary background noises. We also made sure the transitions were not choppy and that they ran smoothly. We tried different transitions and editing techniques to make it pop more. In future blogs I will continue to inform of the paths of our journey through this blog. Peer Review: Getting A New Perspective

Hey world, it's Aniyah! We have entered the peer review phase in the process of the making of the movie. I like this part because we get a different and unbiased perspective on our movie. I am always open to different suggestions and ideas. I also got to review somebody else's movie and it was pretty fun to do. I found it cool to deeply observe someone else's movie and I liked seeing how creative someone else is being with this project. When I watched another group's movie, I could see that they wanted to wanted to a mystery/thriller type movie. They had most of their shots done, but they need to add a few shots and they will have all the required shots completed.

They made sure that their movie was within the time limit. They had good lighting and there wasn't any choppiness in between the transitions. They also had all the required titles, but they just need to rearrange it and put it in the correct order. I could tell they had some trouble with the sound. I could not really hear what they were saying when the characters were having conversations. In certain scenes the background noises would overlap the conversation. When the video transferred  to the computer, it looked very blurry and there were some pixels. Their acting was very good. One of the actresses were really good at fake crying and she made it look very believable. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Filming Blog: Successfully Shooting All Scenes

Hey world, it's Aniyah! In my previous blog I explained how my group and I were not able to completely finish the mall scenes in our movie because of certain complications. But, over the weekend my group and I met at our group member's, Lily, house and completed the whole movie. There were two more people who participated in the movie: Lily's mom and, my new friend, Paige. Paige played friend number 2 of the main character and Lily's mom played the mother of the main character. First we filmed inside Lily's house for the scenes that are in the beginning of the movie. Lily played the role of the main character and Stephanie played the maid and the witch. The beginning was very fun to film. We tried certain shots we never used before such as eye line match, cut in shots, and action match shot. These shots were very interesting to use and when we use them, they came out really good.

Later on during the day, we went to Aventura mall to complete the mall scenes. The first scene we shot was a medium three person shot of the main character and her 2 friends. The main characters stops as they are walking and demands the friend to tie her shoe. We had to re-shoot this scene a few times because we could not stop laughing but we did not let that consume our time. We continued to film the rest of the mall scenes. We had some fun along the way but we did not let that distract us from completing our task. After the mall, we went back to Lily's house to finish the rest of the movie. We only had 2 more scenes to film at that point. It was starting to get darker outside, which was a good thing because that sets the mood of the scenes. The last two scenes we filmed was when random bad things started happening to the main character and when she dies. We had to get those done quickly because some people were about to be picked up by their parents. We executed he scenes perfectly and on time. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Editing Blog: Working with Titles

Hey world, it's Aniyah! My group and I have gotten a head start on editing. The first thing we are working on are the titles. In one of my previous planning blogs, I stated that we wanted the font of the titles to be similar to the font you would see in a newspaper. Recently in class, my group members and I wanted the title of the movie to really pop out. We kept throwing in ideas, but none of them were good enough to really grasp the audience's attention and to keep them engaged. Suddenly, one of our beloved media teachers gave us a good idea. She suggested that we should put the title of the newspaper that contains the same letter as our movie title. Then, the other letters would fade out and the letters of the movie title would come together and pop out. We were immediately inspired and began to work.

My group member, Stephanie, found a way to get a newspaper background and edit titles in it. She also found a technique to make the letter pop out and let the letters come together. Stephanie is the one who takes the lead in the editing process because she is a lot more tech savvy than Lily and I. In the newspaper she mads it seem like what happened to the girl was in the newspaper to help the audience foreshadow what the movie is about. Lily is going to play the main character in the story. Because of this we thought it would be smart to put a little girl in the newspaper paper background, so it would look like a younger version of Lily. While editing the titles, I helped give Stephanie ideas of what to put in certain spaces of the newspaper. Lily was absent, so she was not able to take part in this  part of the process. But she will be bale to participate in the filming that we are going to complete this weekend. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Filming Blog: Failed Attempt at Getting Good Shots

Hey world' it's Aniyah! We have finally approached the filming process in the creation of our short movie. Although, it has been difficult trying to meet up and film at the locations where we need to film. We have had a few weekends available to meet and get some filming done, but the group and I have very busy schedules and we also do not live that close to each other. The distance is a huge struggle because sometimes our parents may also be too busy to bring us where we need to be. But, we did have a weekend where we able to meet up. Despite the hassle, we successfully found the perfect place and time to get together and get a jump start on our filming. The scenes we wanted to start filming were the mall scenes. We went to Aventura Mall to use as our background. Once we entered, we went around and asked a few store managers if we could film in their store.

We did get rejected a few times. This was mainly because they thought we would disturb people, make the customers feel uncomfortable, or cause problems. We tried to explain to them that we would not be a problem, but they still refused. We were disappointed, but we did not make it a big deal because we understood their concerns. Although, we repeatedly got rejected, we came across one store that was fine with letting us film, this store is called H and M. H and M did lay down some ground rules after they said they would allow us to film. They said we weren't allowed to get any of the customers in the background and and that we couldn't make a mess. We were understanding and obeyed their terms. H and M is a big store, so there were many spots to film.

Although we had a good amount of room to film, we still encounter a few difficulties. On that particular weekend the store was busy because things were on sale. This made it difficult to film without getting people in the background. We decided to wait when certain parts of the store to be cleared, so we could begin filming. Once a spot opened up, we took the opportunity and got the camera rolling. We came across another obstacle: the noise. In the background, there were babies crying, people talking loudly, and loud music playing. It was so loud, we could not even hear ourselves talk when we reviewed the shots we took. We did not get any good shots, so we decided to start over next weekend. Next weekend, we plan to get all the scenes we need for the movie at the mall and at Lily's house, my group member. Planning blog: Storyboard

Hey world, it's Aniyah! We have finally reach the last and final step of the planning phase: the storyboard. In this part of the planning phase, one of my group members, Lily took the lead in this. Usually, I take care of this part, but we decided to try something new. I helped her get started on the storyboard and I let her know how this part of the process goes. After that, she went on by herself. She has leaned well and has shown great progress with the storyboard. The storyboard puts everything together. It puts together the actions, camera angles and movements, and shots. It maps out every second of the film. The storyboard truly depicts a good image of what our film is going to look like. This google slide will present to you the storyboard.

Planning the Titles

Hello world, it's Aniyah! of all the parts of this movie, title slides are really important. They are gonna show what we understand and how far we have come in our movie-making process. In today's slides, I am going to take you through just what we have planned the titles to be popping up on the screen. There is gonna be some detail about the location and the font. Also, there will be some telling about the amount of time it is going to be up on the screen. We have to fit a lot of important titles into one short intro to a movie but do it well. It has to be there long enough to read but no longer than to take up the whole time. It has to be perfect and if it isn't it could make the whole movie bad. In here we also spoke about the spacing and the contrast.

Planning: Location, Participants, Health, and Schedule

Hey world it's Aniyah! For this blog we are going to be talking about some of the components to filming this movie. Instead of just using blogger as usual we are using google slides. The first slide is just an introductory slide saying what I am going to be doing. The second slide is the schedule. We need a schedule to keep everything in order and make sure we do everything in a timely manner. The third slide are the participants. This is basically just showing who is going to be in the movie. The fourth slide is to insure that we are safe and taking the proper procedures. Lastly, the fifth and sixth slides are about where the scenes in the movie will be taking place. Thanks for reading and blog you later!

Planning Blog: SOUND SCRIPT

Hey world, it's Aniyah! It is officially that time of year to start getting out script and background work together. We have been working so hard o this project to make it the best one ever. We have all come so far in the last year learning new skills. We have learned to edit, filming and just working as a group better. We are so excited to be able to share our script with you guys. This is gonna be your little sneak peek into our movie. Though we have been working super hard we still haven't got all the details down pat. But I promise the second we do we will let you guys know. In this blog, I will be going through all the sound effects that will be going into the blog. I will also we giving you guys the script that is gonna be in the movie. After this blog and the one before this, you will have a good understanding of what exactly our movie is gonna consist of.

Planning Blog: SHOOTING SCRIPT

Hey world, it's Aniyah! We have officially began the first planning step in the making of our movie. Our group and I have done a lot of discussing on how we want the movie to go. It took a lot of time and thinking because they were many different aspects to consider. We have to figure out what angles, movements, sounds, and editing techniques to use. We also had to figure out the meaning behind each angle, movement, sound, and editing technique and how it would not only grasp the audience attention, but also how would it keep them engaged. We eventually came up with great ideas of how we want it to go and it all connects very well. We have created a shooting script that maps out what will go on in each and every scene. Although, only the angles, movements, and editing techniques are planned out, in upcoming blogs, there will more insight into other details about the movie. Thank you for reading and blog you later!

Title Research: THE REAPING

Hey world, it's Aniyah! Today we are going to be researching and reviewing the title scene of The Reaping on watchthetitles.com. The genres of this movie are horror and thriller, the same as our movie. There are 7 questions that are going to be answered and explained in this blog.
The Questions
Q1: The first question is How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?
A:There are 27 titles that are displayed during the opening sequence of the film. These titles include the names of the actors, directors, screenplay, producers, executive producers, etc.
Q2: The second question is What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
A:The images that were prioritized in this film were as simple as leaves, stone walls, microscopic images, eyes(specifically eyelashes),  bursts of ink, and I cannot make out what some of the images are because they are so zoomed in.
Q3: The third question is What connotations do the images carry?
A: The connotations that these pictures carry are suspense. How much they zoom in the pictures show how they don't want you want you to know what those items or things are. The simple items like the leaves, bricks, or stone walls may represent something bigger then itself. These pictures urge the viewer to continue watching the movie.
Q4: How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?
A:  The genre is reinforced through symbolic codes is the images. They represent something bigger than itself.
Q5: How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?
A: The film establishes an enigma because it builds up suspense by not knowing what the images that are very zoomed in are. For the images you can see, you don't know how they would be significant in the movie. The music also plays a big part in building up the enigma(the mystery.) For example if there was happy, upbeat music you would think that the movie is positive and possibly a comedy. In this specific movie opening there was mysterious and eerie music. This music was setting the tone for the whole movie.
Q6: What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
A: The strategies that are being used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience are the film needed to show how their movie is going to be different from others. Another strategy used was they showed what company was producing this movie. In this case it was Warner Bros. Warner Bros company is very well known and liked. Some big movies they produced were, The Exorcist, The Dark Knight, Aquaman, and many more popular films.
Q7: How has technology been used effectively?
A: While answering this question I considered all of the following, camera angles, transitions, and editing. For editing they have to merge together all the images and videos. They also have to edit in all the titles as well as the music.

Title Research: VENOM

Hey world, it's Aniyah. Today we are going to be researching and reviewing the title scene of Venom on artofthetitle.com. The genres of this movie are horror and thriller, the same as our movie. The other genres of this movie are superhero and science fiction. There are 7 questions that are going to be answered and explained in this blog
Q1: The first question is How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?
A: There are 24 titles that are displayed during the opening sequence of the film. These titles include the names of the actors, directors, screenplay, producers, executive producers, etc.
Q2: The second question is what images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
A:The images that were prioritized in this film were ink blots. The ink blots either turned into something or appeared as something from the beginning. Some images were scratching claws, beetles, the actual main character(venom),fossils, skulls, bridges, and random creatures.
Q3: The third question is what connotations do the images carry?
A: The connotations that these pictures carry are showing you things that are gonna play a big part in the movie. For example the main character is obviously going to venom so they are going to show a sneak peak of that character. Another example is the bridge. This could possibly be hinting to where a significant scene is going to occur.
Q4: How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?
A: The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes because like I have said in the past questions the images/objects represent more then they show.
Q5: How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?
A: The film establishes an enigma because like I said in question 3 the images represent something, their there for a reason. Without the images the opening film would just be boring and bland. But some of the reasons for the images are unknown. That's what adds mystery to the film.
Q6: What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
A: The strategies that are being used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience are the film needed to show how their movie is going to be different from others. This movie is different then others because the main character of the movie is a villain. Another strategy used was that they showed how the movie was based on a original Marvel Comic. This will bring in a lot more viewers because it will pull in comic lovers and movie lovers. Another strategy used is they used a villain from another movie. Spider-man 3 is when Venom is first introduced.
Q7: How has technology been used effectively?
A: While answering this question I considered all of the following, camera angles, transitions, and editing. For editing they have to merge together all the images and videos. They also have to edit in all the titles as well as the music.
